ALAIN CARON IS A CANADIAN VIRTUOSO BASS PLAYER, FORMER MEMBER OF UZEB, CONSIDERED FOR DECADES ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT AND INFLUENTIAL MUSICIANS ON THE WORLD STAGE.
Alain Caron is best known for his many years as a member of Uzeb (Quebec jazz supergroup), but also for having released many solo albums.
Alain Caron is one of the strongest bass voices of today, just as skilled at fretless bass as he is at fretted and acoustic. He is able to produce wonderful melodies on the fretless, impeccably performed, and to switch to fretted bass with an incredible slap technique that is second to none.
He has recorded and toured with jazz greats including Oliver Jones, Lorraine Desmarais, Mike Stern, Frank Gambale, Bireli Lagrene, Didier Lockwood, Tiger Okoshi, Billy Cobham and Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez.
Winner of several awards, including 11 Félix, Gemini and the Oscar-Peterson Award twice, the first one in 1991 with Uzeb for his contribution to Canadian jazz and the second one in 2013 for his solo work. Alain Caron was voted best bassist eight consecutive years by JAZZ REPORT MAGAZINE.
In 2007, the ‘’Université du Québec’’ under the auspices of the ‘’Université du Québec’’ in Rimouski, gave him an honorary doctorate.
In July 2018, he was honoured to receive the Order of Canada, the highest civilian honor awarded in Canada!

Biography
Alain Caron is a Canadian bass player from Quebec, who came to prominence in the 1980s as a member of the influential fusion band UZEB, continuing his career as a soloist, teacher and sideman, performing with many other artists on the world stage.

During his career Alain Caron has recorded over 20 albums both with Uzeb and during his solo career. He has also participated as a sideman on over 50 albums in projects by other artists, both Pop and Jazz.
Media & Honors
As bassist and composer Alain Caron has twice won the Oscar Peterson Life Award and 11 Felix Awards. In July 2018 he received the Order of Canada, the highest civil honor awarded in Canada.
